Amazon FBA Course: how to choose the right one in 2026
The Amazon FBA training market is booming. Between promises of passive income and programmes costing thousands of pounds, it's hard to know where to turn. Here's an honest comparison, based on my experience as an active Amazon FBA seller and coach.
Do you actually need a course to start Amazon FBA?
The honest answer: no, it's not strictly necessary. Some sellers have built profitable businesses entirely on their own, watching YouTube videos, reading forums and testing on the ground. That's entirely possible, and I won't pretend otherwise.
But here's the reality I observe after years on Amazon: self-taught sellers typically take 6 to 12 months longer to reach profitability. More importantly, they tend to make mistakes that end up costing far more than a course would have. Wrong product selection, a poorly optimised listing, PPC spend spiralling out of control, Amazon fees they hadn't fully accounted for...
A good course saves you time and protects you from expensive mistakes. But equally, a bad course can waste your money and your confidence. Which is why choosing carefully matters enormously.
If you're just discovering what Amazon FBA is, start with the free resources. If you want to move faster and sidestep the traps, structured learning or personalised coaching can make all the difference.
5 criteria for choosing your Amazon FBA course
Before handing over your card details, check these 5 points. They'll help you filter out 90% of poor-quality programmes.
Does the trainer still sell actively on Amazon?
This is the single most important criterion. Amazon evolves constantly: algorithm updates, policy changes, fee revisions, new ad formats. A trainer who stopped selling two years ago is teaching outdated knowledge. Verify they have an active seller account and that they show recent, verifiable results — not just income screenshots from 2021.
Is the course updated for 2026?
Amazon regularly changes its interfaces, policies and fee structures. A course recorded in 2022 and never updated has limited value. Check when the most recent modules were added and ask whether updates are planned. On Udemy, filter by "Recently updated" to find fresher content.
Is there an active community?
A private group — Discord, Slack or Facebook — where students help each other is a strong quality signal. You'll be able to ask questions, share your doubts and learn from others' mistakes. If the trainer is absent from the group, that's a red flag. The community is often worth as much as the course content itself.
Are the reviews independently verifiable?
Testimonials on a sales page prove nothing. Look for reviews on Trustpilot, Google, Reddit (r/AmazonFBAOnlineRetailers is a good starting point) or independent YouTube reviews. Contact former students if you can. If you can't find any independent reviews, be very cautious.
Is the price-to-value ratio realistic?
A £400 course with 15 hours of dense, relevant content can be worth more than a £3,000 programme padded with filler. Look at actual module count, what personalised support is included, and how long you retain access. Don't forget to test your margin calculations — use our free Amazon FBA calculator to check whether what the course teaches holds up in practice.
Amazon FBA course comparison for UK sellers — 2026
Here is a comparison of the main types of training available to UK sellers. I've assessed each based on the 5 criteria above.
| Option | Price (GBP) | Strengths | Weaknesses | Rating |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Udemy courses | £15–£200 | Low cost, broad topics, accessible on your schedule | Variable quality, often generic, limited UK-specific content | 3/5 |
| Amazon Seller University | Free | Official source, covers Seller Central, FBA basics, PPC intro | No structure, no community, surface-level strategy | 3/5 |
| Mid-tier online programmes | £500–£1,500 | Structured curriculum, community, some Q&A support | Not always updated, limited 1:1 time with trainer | 3.5/5 |
| Premium programmes (£2k–£5k) | £2,000–£5,000 | Comprehensive, active community, regular live calls | High upfront cost, some are overpriced for what's delivered | 4/5 |
| 1:1 personalised coaching | Varies | Fully tailored to your product and market, direct expert access | Requires careful vetting — quality varies significantly by coach | 5/5 |
Free Amazon FBA training: what you can learn without spending a penny
Before investing in a paid course, you can already build solid foundations for free. Here are the best free resources for UK sellers:
My YouTube channel
On my channel, I share real results, market analyses and strategic advice from my own Amazon FBA experience. It's content you won't find in most paid courses — real numbers, real mistakes, real wins. A strong starting point before committing any budget.
Amazon Seller University
Amazon's official training platform offers dozens of free tutorials covering Seller Central navigation, FBA logistics, listing creation and Sponsored Products advertising. It's the fundamentals, straight from the source — available at sellercentral.amazon.co.uk.
Reddit & community forums
Subreddits such as r/AmazonFBAOnlineRetailers and r/FulfillmentByAmazon are active communities where experienced sellers share real-world insights. Search for UK-specific posts to find relevant advice on VAT, Companies House registration and UK fulfilment centres.
Free tools
Use our free Amazon FBA calculator to check your product's profitability before ordering a single unit. Understanding your numbers from day one is one of the most valuable things any free or paid course can teach you.
The limits of free resources
Free content is excellent for understanding the fundamentals. But it has clear limitations:
- • No structured progression — you risk going in circles and missing key concepts
- • No personalised feedback on your specific product, niche or situation
- • Conflicting information across different sources — hard to know what's current
- • Nobody to flag it when you're about to make a costly strategic mistake
Can you fund Amazon FBA training in the UK?
A common question: "Is there a UK equivalent to France's CPF to fund Amazon FBA training?"
Unlike France's personal training account system, the UK does not have a direct equivalent for this type of commercial training. However, there are several angles worth exploring:
Business expense deduction
If you're already trading as a sole trader or limited company, training costs directly related to your business can often be claimed as allowable business expenses. Speak to your accountant before purchasing to confirm eligibility.
Skills Bootcamps
The UK Government's Skills Bootcamps programme covers some digital and e-commerce skills. Coverage varies by region and provider. Check gov.uk/skills-bootcamps for current availability — some courses covering digital marketing and data skills are relevant to Amazon FBA.
Start Up Loans
The British Business Bank's Start Up Loans scheme offers loans of £500–£25,000 at a fixed 6% interest rate. Training costs can be included in the business plan. Access via startuploans.co.uk.
Payment plans
Many reputable coaching programmes offer monthly payment plans. This makes it possible to start without a large lump sum — and to begin earning from your Amazon business before you've finished paying for the course.
My recommendation: don't choose a training programme solely based on whether you can claim it back. Choose the best option for your objectives first, then explore the most appropriate way to fund it.
Why personalised coaching beats a course every time
I don't sell an online course. My approach is different: a 1:1 coaching programme tailored to your situation, your budget and your objectives on Amazon.co.uk.
Why? Because after coaching more than 20 entrepreneurs on Amazon FBA, I've found that every project is unique. A generic video module doesn't address the specific questions about your niche, your market positioning or the UK regulatory landscape you're navigating.
Who is it for?
- • Beginners who want a structured framework and a mentor who is still actively selling
- • Active sellers who have plateaued and want to break through to the next level
- • Entrepreneurs looking to launch or scale their Amazon FBA business on Amazon.co.uk
What's included:
- • Regular 1:1 video sessions at a pace suited to your progress
- • A personalised action plan with clear milestones
- • Access to my tools, supplier contacts and professional network
- • Between-session support: messaging, listing audits, PPC reviews
- • The expertise of an active seller with over £1M in revenue in 2024
The difference from a standard course?
You're not watching videos alone and hoping for the best. You work directly with someone who is in the same business, who understands the real-world challenges, and who tailors every piece of advice to your specific project.
Frequently asked questions about Amazon FBA courses
Answers to the questions we get asked most often.
What is the best Amazon FBA course in 2026?
There is no single 'best' course that suits everyone. It depends on your budget, current level and objectives. The most important thing is to choose a trainer who still actively sells on Amazon, keeps their content updated and has a genuine track record. UK-focused options include courses on Udemy (from £15 during sales), dedicated Amazon FBA programmes between £500 and £3,000, and personalised coaching. See the comparison above to help you decide.
How much does an Amazon FBA course cost in the UK?
Costs vary enormously. Udemy courses typically sell for £15–£200 (often heavily discounted). Mid-tier online programmes range from £300 to £1,500. Premium Amazon FBA courses with community access and mentorship cost £2,000–£5,000. The most expensive courses are not necessarily the best — look at actual content, community activity, and verifiable student results before committing.
Can you succeed at Amazon FBA without a course?
Yes, technically. Some sellers have built profitable businesses entirely through YouTube, Amazon Seller University and trial and error. But in practice, self-taught sellers typically take 6 to 12 months longer to reach profitability and make costly mistakes that a structured course would have helped them avoid — wrong product selection, underestimated fees, poorly managed PPC. Free resources give you the foundations; structured learning protects your capital.
Is there a UK government equivalent to the French CPF for Amazon FBA training?
The UK does not have a direct equivalent to France's CPF (personal training account). Some Amazon FBA training costs may be claimable as a business expense against tax if you're already trading as a sole trader or limited company. The UK Government's Skills Bootcamps programme and some apprenticeship frameworks cover e-commerce skills more broadly, but there is currently no funded scheme specifically for Amazon FBA training. Always speak to your accountant about what you can claim.
